Bar Graph Memories

Share a time or an example of when you had to create a bar graph. What was it about? What kind of materials did you use to make it? Share your bar-graphing experiences.

    I remember the first time I had to use a computer to make graphs. I was at UD and had a huge unit project to do for student teaching. We had to include our pre- and post-assessment results in a bar graph. We also had to make bar graphs with the results of our own sub-categories (I chose special ed vs. non-special ed). I wasn't that tech-savvy at that time, so I didn't bother to look for video tutorials. I just played with Excel until I figured it out.

    In high school, I took an Excel class. I learned how to collect and arrange data in an Excel spreadsheet and use that data to create a bar graph. We also had to make sure we had all the correct labels and colors. This skill has been very helpful for me. Now, I have to record the pre-test and post-test Math assessments and go over them with my class. We discuss the changes we see in our bar graphs.
